Rimfire
Rimfire
Rimfire refers to a type of firearm cartridge. This particular cartridge is referred to as rimfire because its pin strikes the base of the rifle cartridge's rim in order to ignite it. This differs from centerfire cartridge which uses a firing pin to strike at the center of the base of the cartridge for ignition. Rimfire cartridges have a thin case and are limited to low pressure calibers. These low pressures means that the rimfire firearms are usually light to carry and inexpensive to buy.
