Nitro

Nitro is the name of the chemical composition of the smokeless powder used as a propellant for a projectile in a firearm. In solid form it is based on nitroglycerine. Nitro replaced gun powder in firearms in the late 19th century and is preferred to gun powder because it produces less smoke and because it is safer since it burns more slowly allowing the projectile to accelerate for longer down the gun barrel.
